Wirtgen Group presents highly specialized solutions for American road construction

At the Technology Days event in March 2018, 1,200 guests from Alaska to Key West experienced a unique program focusing on the latest technologies from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm and Kleemann. Hosting the event was Wirtgen America, Inc. in Nashville, Tennessee, headquarters of the Wirtgen Group in the USA and Canada.By cutting the red ribbon, Wirtgen Group CEO, Domenic G. Ruccolo, and Wirtgen America President, James P McEvoy officially inaugurated the new CTT at Wirtgen America.

The Center for Training and Technology (CTT), located on the grounds of the Wirtgen America, Inc. North American Campus is a world-class facility for the training of Road and Minerals Technology professionals.
The building has been recently extended by 21,000 square feet, adding 7 classrooms and 5 technology rooms as well as a newly expanded lunchroom to accommodate the increasing demand and to further support our dealer and customer development. The new premises were ceremonially opened during the Technology Days with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. “This new facility underlines the commitment we have to our customers in the US and Canada”, Wirtgen Group CEO, Domenic Ruccolo said.

Established in 1985, Wirtgen America has been serving Wirtgen Group customers on the North American continent for more than 30 years. From the headquarters in Nashville, 35 dealers with over 250 locations — sales offices, workshops, spare parts warehouses and optimally trained personnel — provide a complete service for customers in the road construction and mining industries.

The opening of the expanded CTT was not the only occasion to celebrate. “The growth we’ve seen in North America is tremendous. Rising market success was accompanied by successive expansion of the sales and service network. Know-how is an important keystone on the way to such success. “Expertise is critical in our business and that’s why we attach great importance to the continuous technical training of both our own team and our dealers. Our in-house training center is busy all year long. It goes without saying that we also offer training programs for our customers’ machine operators, and they frequently take advantage of the offer,” explains Jim McEvoy, CEO Wirtgen America.

Outstanding competence: Expert know-how meets practical use

The unique event in our industry provides customers with the opportunity to get in touch with factory experts and experience first-hand what makes Wirtgen so special: Its service-orientation, its continuous push for new technical solutions and its passion for road and mineral technologies. The enthusiasm during the two live demo sessions (one on road construction and one on road rehabilitation) with a total of 32 machines from the WIRTGEN GROUP was unmistakable. With competence and a friendly approach, the experts from Wirtgen America presented their machines and technologies for subgrade construction, concrete paving with subsequent compaction, road rehabilitation and material recycling. A machine exhibition with 31 machines on display and microsessions on the WIRTGEN GROUP technologies slipform paving, paving, compaction and crushing as well as hands-on presentations in the shop completed the presentation of the living partnership in Northern America.

The live event impressively demonstrated how well the individual technologies of the Wirtgen Group product brands complement one another, and how the individual processes are optimally coordinated with each other. By presenting these technologies in action, the Wirtgen Group has shown just where its strengths lie: Each individual product brand presented technological innovations which together make up leading, complete solutions for economical road construction.

Following the example of the German brand headquarters at international events, the American representatives of the individual product brands also worked hand-in-hand during the superb presentation. Domenic Ruccolo summarized what makes them such a strong team: “The will to create comprehensive solutions, with which our customers can work successfully — in North America and around the world.”
